Subject + has/have + Verb (3rd form) + object
👉 This is the basic structure of the Present Perfect tense.
🔹 Examples
- I have finished my homework
- She has completed her work
- They have played cricket
🔹 Past Participle (V3 Form of Verb)
In Present Perfect tense, we always use the third form of the verb (V3).

🔹 Helping Verbs (Has / Have)
The Present Perfect tense uses two helping verbs: has and have.
✅ Use “have” with:
I, You, We, They
Examples:
- I have done my work.
- They have completed the task.
✅ Use “has” with:
He, She, It (singular subjects)
Examples:
- He has finished his homework.
- She has written a letter.
🔹 1. Affirmative (Positive Sentences)
Structure:
Subject + has/have + past participle (V3)
Examples:
- I have finished my homework.
- She has completed her work.
🔹 2. Negative Sentences
Structure:
Subject + has/have + not + past participle (V3)
👉 Short form (contraction):
- has not → hasn’t
- have not → haven’t
Examples:
- I have not finished my homework.
- She has not completed her work.
- They haven’t done the task.
🔹 3. Interrogative Sentences (Questions)
Structure:
Has/Have + subject + past participle (V3)?

- Have you finished your homework?
- Has she completed her work?
- Have they done the task?
🔹 4. WH-Questions
Structure:
WH word + has/have + subject + past participle (V3)?
Examples:
- Why have you finished your work early?
- Where has she gone?
- What have they done?
